Since we needed one anyway and it matched our criteria, when I saw this one I decided to give it a try. So how did it do? First off, it comes tightly packed in the box that weighs about 13 pounds. The box was relatively easy to get open, just three pieces of tape on the top and three pieces on the bottom. Just a tip, you're probably better off pulling it out of the bottom of the box than the top. The package contains the device, the secondary handle, the guard, battery and charger, and a wall mounting thing with screws. The only real tool you're going to need to assemble the trimmer is a Phillips head screwdriver. From opening the box, to fully assembled unit, took me roughly half an hour. A very good start. Next charging the battery. The battery charges in a unit separate from the device itself. I have a cordless lawnmower, which set a pretty high bar by being able to charge either inside the mower or outside. Overall design of the trimmer is excellent. You can adjust the length of the handle a certain amount for more comfortable operation. The placement of the secondary handle can also be adjusted somewhat. I found them to be an excellent position to provide support. The guard allows for a 90° orientation change. By pushing in on a button and rotating it you're able to change the orientation so you can get things that are right along the edge of the fence for example. There's even a perfectly placed wheel to allow it to glide easily along those areas while edging. In addition there's a little power saver knob which shortens the length of the wire and thus prolongs runtime by having less length to spin; basically, it's just a little razor blade that cuts the chord off to 10" instead of the regular 12" length. The trimmer comes with a full line spool, but when you eventually have to replace that, their instructions suggest using Toro 88532 line, (available on Amazon) so you can check the cost for that, though any .065" (1.6 mm) trimmer replacement line should work. The device feels sturdy. The materials are lightweight, weighing only about 8 pounds, but it doesn't feel flimsy. Even the plastic bits seem to be pretty solid and look like they can take some abuse. If you're reasonably strong individual, using this on even a midsized yard shouldn't be a problem. When the line inevitably breaks, you can extend it using the auto-advancing line feature or you can manually extend the line yourself using a button on the base of the wire spool. I only use it for about 20 minutes at a time so I can't speak to maximum battery life, but it cut everything with plenty of power and the battery wasn't drained that much. I think the defining thing I thought of as I was writing this review is how I kept telling my wife "This is so cool!" right after I'd set it up. I like just about everything about the design and it's a trusted brand so I don't have any fears about the battery dying immediately or other parts breaking right way.
